2021 Cabernet Franc

The 2021 Cabernet Franc embodies the best that this grape has to offer.  Parent to both merlot and cabernet sauvignon, cabernet franc can be downright cantankerous if not farmed properly, but if done right, the resulting wines can be some of the most rewarding in the world.  In this cuvée, an initial hint of strawberry gives way to aromas of graphite and sunbaked river stone, all of which is framed beautifully by savory notes that include white pepper and hints of summer truffles.  Medium in acid and tannin, this wine is the perfect digestif to contemplate after a long, luxurious meal with friends, either today, or a decade down the road.

The 2021 Cabernet Franc is another terrific wine in this range from Pride. In 2021, the Franc is especially aromatic and a bit less opulent than in some recent years, an approach that brings out more varietal character. Crushed herbs, spice, dark red cherry and leather all grace this super-apprealing Franc. This is such a classy wine.

Deeply colored and energetic on the nose, this Cab Franc displays aromas of Amarena cherry, dark chocolate, caramel, mint and fresh tobacco. On the palate, there's a mountain of velvety texture, as this wine is weighty and broad, with flavors of candied cherry, spiced cocoa and salted caramel in powerful but balanced frame. — Tom Capo

Pride's 2021 Cabernet Franc is all estate fruit, boasting assertive notes of raspberries and cherries but also hints of tobacco or tomato leaf. Medium to full-bodied, it's silky in feel, fully ripe, with hints of carob and leafy herbal notes on the finish.

The 2021 Cabernet Franc comes from equal parts Sonoma and Napa, and it's a medium-bodied, elegant Cabernet Franc offering darker cherry and redcurrant-like fruit, some earthy tobacco and underbrush notes, fine tannins, and a nicely balanced overall feel. It should have a decade of prime drinking, if not more.
